Our students celebrated their learning yesterday with our Term 4 Learning Expo. While we weren’t able to have parents come along, our students shared their learning with each other and presented their dance, drama, music and media arts pieces to the rest of the students. We were really proud to see some of our students graduate from Children’s University this year despite the challenges that they have faced. Students are presented with a certificate for 30 hours of time spent on extra curricular activities, and then for every 35 hours after that. The Premier’s Reading Challenge was introduced in 2004 to encourage children to read more books and improve literacy skills. Students who complete the challenge receive an award depending on the number of years they have participated for. On the 11th day of the 11th month, our students and staff commemorated the end of WWI back in 1918. Students discussed the history of the day throughout the morning and made poppies to place outside beneath our flags. As a school, we held a minutes silence at the 11th hour of the day.

On Friday, 23rd October, Felixstow students and staff enjoyed a book week parade at school. We were so impressed by the detailed costumes of our students (and staff) and loved the opportunity to celebrate some wonderful storybooks.

On the 17th of September, Felixstow students headed to the zoo! The students were lucky enough to learn from zookeepers, create an enclosure, complete an orienteering task, look at lots of the animals and have a play on the wonderful zoo playground. It was a wonderful day!

The year 2 and 3 students enjoyed their Big Night In last night (10th September). The students were able to enjoy a warm bonfire to toast marshmallows, pizza for dinner, Lego challenges and more! What a fun night for everyone!

On the 3rd of September, Felixstow students went to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens where they met with Trent Hill. Trent expanded the students knowledge as they toured the gardens on how Aboriginal people use the various plants and trees for all types of different things such as food, medicine, traps for animals and how to start a fire.
